HISTORY

Calvary Chapel Preschool (CCP), Calvary Chapel Elementary School (CCES), Calvary Chapel Middle School (CCMS), and Calvary Chapel High School (CCHS) are ministries of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa (CCCM). In 1970, CCCM opened its doors, under the leadership of Pastor Chuck Smith. In 1973, Maranatha Christian Academy (Now CCES & CCMS) was started in response to a need from the church families who wanted their children to receive a Christian education. The school began with 24 teachers and 621 students ranging from kindergarten through eighth grade. In 1987, CCHS was added to further meet the educational, social, and spiritual needs of the children from the CCCM church body. The high school was designed to provide students with a challenging and comprehensive college preparatory program developing competence in Bible, English, mathematics, science, fine arts, foreign language, history, and physical education.

PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy of Calvary Chapel Schools is aligned with Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, where we seek to be a Jesus-formed community on mission, pursuing formation in the words, ways, and works of Jesus and living out his mission in the community. CCS aims to partner with families to equip and empower our students to be tomorrow’s Christian leaders with a deep foundation in biblical truth, formed in the image of Christ, for the Glory of God, and the sake of others. Therefore, CCS strives to give students skills to be productive citizens, but most importantly, to nurture their relationships with Jesus Christ and accurately reflect His character to the world.

VISION

Our vision is to have our students finish CCES having developed a strong relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and having received a quality education in preparation for their future in middle school and highschool . We work as unto the Lord for the fulfillment of this vision for each of our students

STATEMENT OF FAITH

God.
We believe that there is one living and true God, who exists in three persons as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All equal in power and authority, the Godhead is the Creator, sustainer, and governor of all things.2 Corinthians 13:14, The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

Bible.
We believe that God has communicated to us through the Old and New Testaments, which are true and without error. Scripture is the foundation of our individual lives and the blueprint for His church.
2 Timothy 3:16-17, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Creation.
We believe that God created our world and gave it life. He is the Maker, who by simply speaking brought everything into existence and tasked humanity to care for it.
Colossians 1:16, For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Jesus.
We believe that God became man so that we might be reconnected to Him. As a man, Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled this mission by His death and resurrection, and as God remains the object of our worship.
Isaiah 9:6, For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Salvation.
We believe that God invites everyone to entrust their lives to Jesus Christ. This act of faith initiates God graciously giving us spiritual birth, a place in His family, purpose in this life, and residency with Him forever.
John 1:12-13, But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Church.
We believe that God has formed a universal community from those who follow Him. We are connected to each other locally, where we gather to worship Him, be taught by Him, and be sent by Him.
Ephesians 2:19-22, Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Life.
We believe that God has given us His Spirit to have the liberty, power, and wisdom to live every day for Him. The believer who yields to His presence will experience the supernatural in all areas of life.
John 14:12-13, Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

ACCREDITATION

The Association of Christian Teachers and Schools (ACTS) is an accreditation program that established high, uniform standards of Christian Schools. Through their accreditation process, a school must represent a standard of excellence that is recognized by other institutions and the constituency of the community in which the school is located. CCES has been WASC and  ACTS accredited since 2018.
